simply delicious

"The key to enjoying cooking is
embracing simplicity. Simplicity in food
is honesty, warmth, pleasure, modesty,
even fairness. Simplicity in cooking is
ease and grace......Simplicity.......is not
a compromise but a treasure."

Mark Bittman
(quote in sister hinkley's book)

If you can believe it. I actually am enjoying cooking. At least I am enjoying the rewards of it. When I get up early and prepare a hot breakfast for my family, and we all gather around the table to share it, something magical happens. The morning grogginess and grumpiness is gone and replaced with warm laughter and love. I swear it. What an incredible gift to give my family. To start the day in such a way. If only I were moderate and constant, I may be celebrated as the best mother ever! For now, I am trying the best I can, but i am real real tired (more on that later).

The dinner pictured above was one of my favorites. I don't know about the kids. They are begging for red meat and cursing that turkeys were ever invented. And yet, I am unmoved. They can't get over that I can find a turkey substitute for everything. I amaze myself, I must admit. I served turkey filet mignon ( a bacon wrapped turkey filet. ha ha). I do serve red meat occasionally, but that is the word of wisdom, am I right,or am I right? I'll answer that for you. I'm right. But Jacob loves to quote from "kicking and screaming" the line....."I take a vitamin every day. It's called a steak." I tell the kids they will thank me later that I taught them healthy habits. Anyway, back to this delightful meal. Turkey burgers, with avocado. Because avocado makes everything better in my opinion. And the best was this three bean salad. The recipe is found in the same everyday food magazine that I told you about. I really liked it a lot.

Off to bed, long (and fun) day tomorrow. That really could be the description of every day. We are heading out early for the temple in Seoul. The whole family comes. It is awesome. I'll explain that later. Then we are going to Gyeongbuk Palace.

When we went to the Seoul Temple from Osan we had to take two differents buses and then the train and then walk six or so blocks. It was fun, but it was an adventure.

I think the car will make it way more fun! Enjoy your day.
