I have just been using this simple recipe from the better homes and gardens cook book. Does anyone have a special waffle recipe that is especially delicious?
p.s. oh, and to explain my title. It's an inside joke I have with one of my mission companions. We used to die laughing because one of the young 19 year old boy missionaries that we served with had a girlfriend and on the envelope of the letters she would mail to him, she would write, "forever obsessed." We thought that was so hysterical, ridiculous, corny, and so so typical of a young girl (probably 17) writing her 19 year old missionary. We of course would tease him so bad! I am sure she dear johned him by the end of his mission. Is to get a "dear john" letter just a Mormon term for getting dumped on your mission? Or does everyone use that expression?
PPS. I went to "imaging USA" at the Phoenix convention center today. It was awesome. I learned so much, and was able to see first hand all the products that I see online. Than, choose what I like best. Specifically albums, and different looks for printing images. Very very exciting. More on that later. I always say that, and than I never mention another word about it. One of my goals is to go back through my blog and find all the times I said that and than finally report more on every subject. That goal, as you can imagine, is pretty low on the list though. I should probably just focus on trying to make dinner every night. How about WAFFLES!

My goodness, woman, MUST you own every kitchen toy imaginable!?! When's the last time you used your ricer? or your magic bullet? Or... I forget all the things you've gushed about in the past year. LOL!
That being said, homemade waffles and hot chocolate (my personal 'forever obsession') sound divine!
Yum! I'm drooling!
PS. Your new website is artistic, beautiful, and so impressive.....which suits you perfectly!
Nancy, I did not know that about you! I am trying to not think less of you! smile. I am such a huge breakfast food fan. Things are going great with the puppy, and yes, I would like the recipe please.
Amie, I used my ricer tonight and dave bought the bullet (truly). I don't even know how to use it.
Christy, you are always way too nice to me. But I like it. smile.
Heather,I have a waffle recipe you MUST try! Mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking powder, & 1 tsp. cinnamon together. In another bowl, mix together a stick of melted butter, 4 eggs (beaten a bit), 1/2 cup milk, and 1 tsp. vanilla extract. Blend the wet ingredients w/ the dry ingredients...and make waffles!
My 6 year old daughter calls these "Heavenly Waffles," because she loves them so much. They won't even need syrup-maybe just a little whipped cream. This recipe is actually doubled (so you could cut everything in half). But we love them so much, we make a big batch and freeze the leftovers, then pop one in the toaster to warm it up when we want one. Please try them and let me know what you think! I found your blog through your sister, Kelly, and think your work is absolutely amazing! You both are. I always look forward to checking in on you guys now and then.
love the new website. congrats. i always love to stop in and see your latest work. so inpsiring!
I have one of those yummy Belgian Waffle Makers. Jay got me one for Mother's Day...actually, I bought it and said it was from him because that's what I wanted. Anyway, I have a wonderful, yummy recipe that my kids ask for all the time. As a matter of fact, Rachel has asked me to make them for her when she was here spending the night before too. I'll have to bring it over to you. I don't have it in front of me and I'm too darn lazy to get up and get it right now. I was pretty obsessed with mine when I first got it too. I made waffles for breakfast, lunch and dinner, made triple recipes and froze them for school days too. I just recently came across another yummy recipe that has been my favorite. It is stuffed french toast (stuffed with a mixture of cream cheese and vanila). I also make a homemade raspberry syrup to go with it and waffles. You take raspberry jam (best if homemade, I'll bring some over) and orange juice. Just heat it up, drizzle it on with a little shake of powdered sugar and it's soooo delicious. If I had the ingredients in my home right now, I'd make it. Anywho, I'll bring over the recipe for waffles...mmmm waffles.
april, lets do breakfast realllll soon. and thanks for the new recipe to try julie. I'm excited.
danish buttermilk syrup
mix in a large saucepan:
1 cube butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. light corn syrup
1/2 c. buttermilk
bring to a boil, then add in order:
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
(when the soda is added the syrup foams so mix it in quickly and then let it sit--and make sure your pan is big enough so it doesn't overflow)
*3xs the recipe will make about 12-15 servings.
why does everything good in like have one cube butter and one cup sugar?
Okay, I just stumbled onto your blog and I am loving it! Boy can I relate!! Love this post, I too received a waffle maker for Christmas. The story of the 19yr old boy and "forever obsessed" had me laughing out loud. Thanks for blogging!
